The movement of the Earth and the Moon

The Earth, as all the other planets of the Solar System, is moving in a plan around the Sun, describing an ellipse. It's distance from the Sun fluctuates from 147 to 152 million of kilometers, leading to a Sun energy variation of 7%.

It is also known the fact that the rotation axis of the Earth is tilted at 6624' from it's orbit's plan.

The Moon is also moving around the Earth, describing an ellipse. It's revolution period is of 27 days, 7 hours and 43 minutes and it is called sideral revolution.

Meanwhile the Moon makes a complete tour around the Earth, the Earth itself rotates around the Sun. The period of time after which the same configuration of the system Sun-Earth-Moon can be obtained is of 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and it is called synodic revolution.
